Band Saw 101

A great introduction to the band saw, you will learn the parts of the band saw, different types of band saws, proper set up and blade selection. You will also make a simple project that incorporates straight and curved cuts.

This class is an intro to box making, with the techniques learned you will be able to build various other boxes of infinite sizes and styles. You will be making a small lidded box with splined miters and a routed lid. You will be using the table saw and router table along with various jigs and fixtures.

This is a great project to use up some accumulated scraps and add some fun to your front porch. There are endless possibilities of size and design with this whimsical project. You will learn how to set up the band Saw and and cut various curves. You will enjoy endless hours watching your finished project spin in the wind.

Take the next step with your band Saw and learn how to make compound cuts. This technique is the same one used to make cabriole style legs and other fun projects. You will learn how to utilize the 1/4" blade, how to set up the saw and how to lay out and make compound cuts. You will also learn a few pattern making alternatives. and will be making a project with  what you  have learned.

This class is a must for all woodworkers. You will learn how to calculate board footage and how to determine the different grades of lumber. We will discuss selecting the grade of lumber you need for a given project and  when to ask for a discount for lumber with defects. You will also learn about the different grades of plywood and which to use for a  project.

Learn the basics of the router, we will discuss the different types of routers and their uses. we will talk about the different bits and bit sets and when to use them.
